All the normal animals were there but then we got to enjoy a couple of exhibits that were really unexpected. The bird sanctuary was really neat....Joe got some excellent pictures of the birds and we really liked that the zoo did not use the normal wire cages but rather had wire strips running parallel, which was aesthetically much more pleasing and it still kept the birds contained. We also enjoyed, to my surprise, the Herpetarium which is snakes and lizards. We saw plenty and it was sometimes a challenge to see them because some can blend into their environment really well. We saw a python that was as big around as my upper leg...now that is scary ! We also really enjoyed seeing prairie dogs, which we have really come to know on this trip !
