Saying Good-Bye to Tuscaloosa

Thiis is our last day in Alabama and we will have rain for the first time this afternoon.  We really enjoyed listening to the Augusta Masters Golf Tournament on the radio while we played cards.  We were rooting for Tiger ofcourse but it was good to see Rory McElroy do so well. Listening to it on the radio was an experience in itself.

We have hiked everyday and feel very sore but its a satisfying soreness.  We have had 70 to 80 degree weather and are on the brink of running the A/C, but not quite.  We only had 4 TV stations, so watched very little....mostly cards and Yahtzee !  The good life.  Will update again in Mississippi !  xxoo TML

GeoCaching

Thursday was a great weather day, in the 70's, so we decided to do our GeoCache thing.  With a park map and GPS in hand, we were off to find the hidden box.  First thing the GPS did was direct us to cross the lake, with no boat we had to hike around to the other side.  4 hours later we arrive and we found the box.  It was very exciting to get within 100, 50, 10 feet of it and then to spot it, hidden under a big rock.  Inside we found it full of "stuff" and a log book.  We signed the book and added more stuff.  Now we had to hike back to our RV on the other side of the lake and in the end, we had hiked over 13 miles.  We were soooooooo tired but it was fun and we want to GeoCache more.  XXOO  TML

Riding the Tide !

We have no Wifi at our campground so we are sitting at Paul ":BEAR" Bryant Museum at University of Alabama parking lot.  Its a huge place and he was an amazing man.  Its a great start to our trip.  Weather is georgous!  We may not update for a few days, we will be doing some hiking around our campground and Geocaching (Google it) this week.  xxoo Us

The Countdown Clock is Ticking....

We are down to dotting I's and crossing T's, as we venture out on the BIG TRIP.  Much has happened in the last month and our dates shifted more than once but everything worked out and we are back on track.  Joe and I will depart on Tuesday, April 5th and we will do some hiking in Alabama and Mississippi for 2 weeks.  The Chastines will meet us in Memphis on the 19th, and we will begin our trip from there.  Hope you stay tuned to our updates and enjoy our trip along with us !

 

We Have A Departure Date !

We will depart on our journey on Monday, April 4th 2011. 

 

We have been calculating, planning, second guessing, re-planning and recalculating our trip until we finally put a rubber stamp onto our trip plan.  We know that we can only use our plan as a guide because we will find many things along the way that could change our plans, so off we will go to see just what lies ahead for us. I will post our finalized trip map and a detailed itinery but don't have that ready as yet. For now, we are all very excited and a little anxious that we only have 9 weeks left to get ready to roll !

A little info about our Moose Lodge

This is our Moose Lodge, which got its name because I decorated the interior in Moose and Bear motif.  I just love the rustic feel of the woods and there is an abundance of moose and bear stuff out on the market, so this was quite do-able.  RV's tend to have lots of mirrors inside and we have one right over the kitchen table.  I don't like to look at myself when I dine so I painted this mirror with a rustic scene and included a moose and bear in the background. So, take a look at our little home on wheels, which is really perfect for us.
