We took a day trip to Austin and it poured down rain, to the delight of every Texan we met up with. We even saw one guy that was so excited that he was running around, literally jumping up and down...we think it may be the other half of a successful rain dance ! Anyway, it was pouring and we were soaked when we arrived at LBJ Presidential Library.
Now this was an interesting library because it is centered around the 60's and the four of us remembered all the turbulent things going on in the US then....the Black Panther movement, the hippies, war protests, assassinations, equal rights for women, etc. The sculptures in the museum were what really caught my eye ! Anyway, we really enjoyed it...here are couple of pictures !
After the LBJ experience we decided to take in the Texas Music Museum, just up the road. It was small but it was also fun because they had displays for all the musical artists from Texas, from symphony to jazz. It was surprising to learn how many well known musicians are from Texas. Here are a couple you may not have expected to see on the list:
Since we have been in Texas we have seen "Whataburger" Restaurants literally everywhere and they have sparked our curiosity so we went and had ours yesterday. It was quite a burger, size wise, and it was good but we all agreed that we were happy to check it off our bucket list and move on the the next curiosity. We are anticipating the Heart Attack Grill in Phoenix, which Joe cannot wait to get to !
